The T54 surface planer was mainly developed to accomplish two tasks – (a) to dress workpieces perfectly and (b) to provide these workpieces with angular edges quickly and safely. This is because you only arrive at the perfect end result with perfect preparation. 

The easy-running guided surfacing fence with an integrated auxiliary fence enables quick and precise working. The ball-bearing guided jointing fence runs smoothly and without tilting on tempered raceways – as precisely for many years to come as it does on the very first day. Chamfers can also be planed in a flash because any angle between 90° and 45° can be set quickly with the user-friendly one-hand operation.

The machine frame of the T54 is a stable, thick-walled composite structure, that is only found in MARTIN products. Already back in the 1920s Otto Martin invented and registered this design. Today, after 95 years of continuous improvement, this simple yet good principle is still being used for the frames at MARTIN. The smart combination of steel and concrete creates a high-quality frame unequaled in terms of stability, damping capacity, and torsional stiffness. The vibrations that occur in any planer are absorbed much more effectively than in cast-iron frames or welded structures. These stands are the perfect base for your perfect work!

The new 3-row Xplane cutter head from MARTIN impresses with a remarkably smooth operation even when idling. This impression is again underlined with the cutter head in action – it works at a very low noise level. Even the largest chip removal needs a surprisingly low motor rating – another advantage. However, what’s really fascinating is the surface qualities that can be reached with the Xplane even on the most difficult woods.
